Microphone Circuit between Microphone and Radio Receiver

DESCRIPTION

This circuit sends a microphone signal from the microphone amplifier assembly to the radio receiver assembly.

It also supplies power from the radio receiver assembly to the microphone amplifier assembly.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1.

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TSW- - MGND)


(a) Disconnect the I9 radio receiver assembly connector.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

Tester Connection

Condition

Specified Condition

I9-3 (TSW-) - I9-6 (MGND)

Always

Below 1 Ω

I9-3 (TSW-) - Body ground

Always

10 kΩ or higher

(c) Reconnect the radio receiver assembly connector.

OK

2.

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MICROPHONE AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY - RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY)


(a) Disconnect the U7 roof console box assembly connector.

(b) Disconnect the I9 radio receiver assembly connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

Tester Connection

U7-10 (ACC) - I9-7 (MCVD)

Always

Below 1 Ω

U7-9 (MI1+) - I9-2 (MIC+)

U7-8 (MIC-) - I9-1 (MIC-)

U7-10 (ACC) - Body ground

10 kΩ or higher

U7-9 (MIC+) - Body ground

U7-8 (MIC-) - Body ground

(d) Reconnect the roof console box assembly connector.

(e) Reconnect the radio receiver assembly connector.

OK

3.

INSPECT RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY (MCVD VOLTAGE)


(a) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:

Tester Connection

I9-7 (MCVD) - Body ground

Ignition switch ON

4 to 6 V

OK

4.

REPLACE MICROPHONE WITH ANOTHER AND CHECK

(a) Replace the telephone microphone assembly with a normal one AUDIO / VIDEO: MICROPHONE AMPLIFIER: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia) .

(b) Check if the same problem occurs again.

OK:

Malfunction disappears.

OK
